About the Mock Con
The Mock Convention has been an annual tradition at Mission San Jose High
School for many years. This Mock Convention is a chance for students to
simulate a national party convention to nominate a presidential candidate
and adopt a party platform. Four students will be selected by the senior
class student body to hold the positions of Radical, Liberal, Conservative,
and Ultra Conservative. They will then work individuals who have chosen to
help them with their campaign and research various real world issues to
debate on and discuss during the convention held on December 17th, 2007. All
students will have the opportunity to participate as a delegate of one of
the fifty states, a U.S. territory, or D.C. and research their states
political background and represent their state during the convention.
The Mock Convention is meant to realistically simulate the national party
convention in all its forms. This includes fundraising for their campaigns,
working for various committees, research and develop a stand on issues
ranging from abortion to the military draft, and even voting on a candidate
after the convention.
